PROCUREMENT/PURCHASING OFFICER

The success story... our client manufactures Recreational Submarines, and Gas Compression Equipment which are exported all around the world and are associated with international manufacturers of submarines.

This innovative manufacturer now needs a Procurement / Purchasing Officer to provide the support to the company during its ongoing and exciting growth.  You will find heaps of variety, challenges, never a dull moment, working alongside a fun and busy supportive team.

This is a hands-on role, ideally you are an engineer with a machining background and looking to move from the workshop to a more office based position.  In this role you will be able to take responsibility and will thrive in an interactive office environment where you will provide a central key support function. Offering top end products to our clientele the role will involve complete job costing, raising invoices and purchase orders, ordering of local stock and supplies, controlling imports, stock control, liaising and maintaining relationships with both suppliers and clients, and resolving queries plus pricing of various exciting projects.

To be successful:

  • You will enjoy building relationships utilizing your very strong communication skills, with effective communication with both suppliers and clients alike.
  • You will be process driven, with very good follow up skills and have the ability to prepare and make sure the appropriate documentation is processed accurately. Strong numerical ability is desirable as preparation of invoicing, costing and working on quotes is required.
  • You will need well developed computer skills, with confidence in Word, Outlook & Excel, MYOB and or SAP experience
  • You will thrive on a busy fast pace environment, be highly organized, self motivated and enjoy working in a close knit, supportive team.
  • You will possess strong technical and function skills (having a broad understanding of engineering and machining practices in a wide range of materials and applications advantageous but not essential)
  • You will have the ability to read and thoroughly understand technical engineering drawings and tolerances
  • You will possess excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • You will implement best practice purchasing and supply chain practices
